Adventures in Learning

Discover Woods, a one-of-a-kind kindergarten and school in Nairobi, located in a beautiful forest setting close to Karen and Lavington. We provide a unique, nature-infused education for children aged 1 to 7. We use play-based learning to nurture academic excellence alongside social and emotional well-being.

At Woods nature and play are the foundation for learning.

At Woods, learning is an adventure. We embrace the British Curriculum, bringing it to life through immersive learning experiences in nature. We focus on developing essential foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and scientific inquiry, all within the context of our natural learning environment.

Children learn, play and explore through hands-on activities and outdoor play. Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom walls, strengthening the child's' connection with the natural world as well as a love of learning.

Our Classes

Seedlings

For our youngest groups of babies and toddlers we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment focused on sensory exploration, bonding, and the development of essential motor skills. We encourage curiosity and exploration, laying the groundwork for future academic and social success

Nursery 1 & 2

For these year groups, we encourage curiosity-driven play, language development, and social interaction. Through play-based learning, we support creativity, problem-solving, and foundational literacy and numeracy skills, guided by our experienced teachers to ensure a balance between structured learning and free exploration.

Reception

Building upon the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, our Reception program prepares children for Key Stage 1 by encouraging a love of learning through play and exploration. We prioritize the development of early literacy, numeracy, and essential social skills, ensuring a smooth transition to primary school.

Year 1 & 2

Following the British Curriculum, we offer a broad, theme-based program taught by dedicated class teachers. Learning is enriched by connecting subjects like History and Geography to creative topics, alongside daily core subjects of Mathematics, English, and Science. Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) allows children to further develop the foundational knowledge gained in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

What sets us apart

Woods is dedicated to early years education, making these youngest learners our sole focus—a distinction from larger international primary schools with nursery attachments. Our location within a forest area offers children an unparalleled learning environment, allowing us to seamlessly integrate nature into our curriculum.

Opening in September 2025 for the new academic year, Woods will provide this high-quality education at a reasonable price point, in an easily accessible location with safe, spacious grounds
